June 8, 1940 - November 30, 2018 |
Dawn Henry, a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Friday, November 30, 2018, after a short bout with cancer. Dawn has always been and always will be the guiding light of her husband and children. She was born to the late Elizabeth Davis on June 8, 1940, in Toledo, OH. Her childhood was a mix of twists and turns due to the loss of her mother at the age of ten. Not to be undaunted, she studied secretarial skills in school where she graduated from Bedford High School in 1958. She married Gary L. Henry on August 26, 1961. Followed by a lengthy career with Dana Corporation, first as a Plant Manager’s Administrator then a Payroll Administrator until her retirement in 2000. Her and Gary spent their retirement caring for “their numerous four legged children”. Dawn loved to crochet and made numerous afghans for family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the old classic western movies. However, her biggest passion was animals. This was a trait that was passed down from her mother as she always said that her mother “had a way with animals”. This passion translated to her having numerous “four legged children” in her adult life. This inspired her to participate in Golden Retriever Rescue of MI. Due to her dedication to this organization and the breed, many “Goldies” were given a second chance to find loving homes. |
